About the material
This fabric is a silk cotton blend that is hand block printed in Bagru, Rajasthan using a traditional technique called "dabu." Mud resist is printed in the shape of a beetle and left to dry in the sun. The fabric is then dipped in natural indigo dye, leaving the portions with the mud resist undyed, with a slightly crackled texture.
This photo shows the mud resist drying on the fabric before it is dipped into the indigo vat.
After going in the indigo, the line work is printed on top with delicately carved wooden blocks.
After washing and drying the fabric is ready for stitching!
